On July 17, Aperture held a summer expedition to
view photographs by artist outside the contemporary demographic. I thought this
was a good idea because it was a good opportunity for other photographers to
get to have their work viewed by a broader spectrum. Executive director
Chris Boot, chose a select few photographs to display on the walls. He
mentions that by doing this project he could see that for photographers
today, "serious photography, above all, was characterized by a sense
of joy." This particular photograph, among them, was perhaps my
favorite. The photographs were selected from Instagram which has grown into a
widely popular social media used by nearly everyone with a smart phone. This
photograph was my favorite displayed because I enjoyed the vintage technique
used in taking the photo and the actual photo itself - I also love how the
colors all correlate into the shot.
